Speed Skating Update: We Have Pads!

Jul 25, 2023

We are absolutely thrilled to confirm that, thanks to an immensely generous donation from the Fenland Indoor Ice Speed Skating Club (FIISSC) of Peterborough, the Cambridge Ice Skating Club has received 23 safety pads to cover the corners of the Cambridge Ice Arena - making the dream of Short Track Speed Skating at the Cambridge Ice Arena a real possibility!

Community Spirit

In addition to the FIISSC's donation of pads, a number of other clubs across the country are supplying us with the remaining pieces of gear and expertise we'll need for the short term.

Our unreserved thanks to the individuals and organisations that have gotten us this far, and continue to aid us:

Upcoming Camps

With these developments, we are in stellar shape to host the Cambridge Ice Arena's inaugural speed skating camps on Saturdays 12th and 26th August. Subsequently, with your support, we'll look to start a regular Short Track Speed Skating training programme.

Each evening has two 2 hour camps (starting at 18:00, and 20:00). Each camp will consist of both on and off ice drills (exact schedule TBD). The 18:00 camps will be primarily for beginner speed skaters (some basic ice skating experience is still required). The 20:00 session will be more open, allowing more experienced skaters to receive more advanced coaching and make better use of the track. Beginners are still welcome to stay for the second session - we will do our best to tailor every session to the attendees on the day regardless of experience.

Each 2 hour camp is £18 per person.
