Your Guide to the Cambridge Free Classic 2024

The wait is nearly over! The Cambridge Free Classic 2024 is just around the corner, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome skaters, coaches, and spectators to the Cambridge Ice Arena. As our first open competition, this promises to be a spectacular event, showcasing talent from across the country. Here's everything you need to know to make the most of your time at the rink!

Please remember that, by our Competition Announcement, unauthorised filming of skater's performances is prohibited.

🏆 Presentations

There will be two presentations each day – one after the morning session and another after the afternoon session. Be sure to stay and cheer for all the participants as they receive their medals!

❄️ Stay Warm - It's Cold in Here!

Our rink can be chilly, so please dress warmly. Bring plenty of layers, blankets, hats, and gloves to stay comfortable, whether you're skating or cheering from the stands.

🛡️ Safeguarding

To ensure the safety and comfort of all participants:

• Separate Changing Rooms: Boys, girls, men, and women will each have their own designated changing rooms.

• Adult Access: Adults will not be authorised to enter the under-18's changing rooms.

• Assistance Room: A dedicated room, will be available for children who need help with boots, hair, makeup, and zip dresses. Please note: No changing is allowed in this assistance room.

• Guardian Policy: Only one guardian per U18 skater is permitted in the assistance room.

We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a safe environment for everyone.

🎵 Music Checking Station

Competitors should check in at the music station upon arrival to ensure everything runs smoothly. This is located on the mezzanine and will be open throughout the event. (Please refer to the Rink Map).

Be sure to bring a USB stick with a copy of your music on it, just in case.

📷 Official Photography Stand

We’re delighted to have Digital Photo Events as our official photographer, capturing the magic of the competition. Photos will be available for purchase at their stand, so make sure you stop by to take home some memories! You will find them on the first floor as you come up the stairs.

👕 Event Merchandise Shop

Don’t leave without picking up some official Cambridge Free Classic merchandise from our friends at GEM! The shop will be open during the entire event. You will find them on the first floor as you come up the stairs.

🍔 Food Truck Availability & Preorder Links

Need a bite to eat? A food truck will be stationed in the car park between 11:00 and 14:00 each day of the competition, offering a variety of delicious options.

• Monday & Tuesday: Served by HitWrap (Instagram). You can preorder your meals using this link to avoid waiting in line.

• Wednesday: Served by Wandering Yak (Instagram). No preorder option is available - please order at the truck on the day!

In addition, the rink's café will be open for the entire event, offering a variety of snacks and drinks to keep you warm and refreshed.

🚗 Traffic

Please be aware that traffic can be quite busy in Cambridge, especially during peak hours. We recommend allowing plenty of extra travel time to ensure you arrive at the rink on schedule. Also check local traffic news sites for any planned roadworks/closures during the competition window.
